Today’s tip is to rediscover something fun from childhood.

I was a serious kid in many ways, often choosing activities or working to improve myself. However, I had a lot of fun as well, enjoying different parts of life.

One thing I think about in my past that was curling up with a fictional novel when the weather was bad. This spring, we had a lot of rough weather, but over the summer it’s just not. Not really a day when I could say I had bad weather.

We do have lots of wind at times, and I hate wind. I’ve had some long days in May and June, trying to get chores caught up on the ranch. It’s a never ending job, and I feel pressure to keep things moving forward. However, we had a really windy day on the weekend recently, and I helped with some chores, but then decided to give myself permission to stop for the day.

I went inside, cleaned up, and got a glass of wine. I sat down on the couch, and opened up a book from the Spinward Fringe series. I’ve enjoyed these over the years, and gotten behind. It’s the fantastic, unbelievable, outrageous kind of science fiction that I enjoyed as a kid. I spent a good portion of the day working through Broadcast 14, which was my spot i in the series.

Now I need to get back to chores, and find ways to get 15-18 in my schedule.

Today’s tip is to create a new playlist today of songs that make you happy.

I love music, and the last year has a number of coping tips along those lines. Variety is neat, and for today, I have to credit my wife. We have some similar tastes, but she likes a lot more R&B music and seems to search out new artists more often than I do.

She turned me on to PJ Morton last year, but this year I heard her playing something by Phonte, which I enjoyed. I decided to add a new playlist, inspired by her, with some his songs, a few by PJ, some by Rhapsody, and a couple others. As I hear her play music, I ask for the artist and I’ll listen to a few things, picking items to add to my playlist.

It’s a neat break from my normal routine, as well as a lovely reminder of when I heard the songs, with my wife.

Today’s tip is to take time to notice something beautiful today.

I was taking down the driveway markers last week. Late this year, but the weather was cold and snowy until May and then I got busy with things. As I wandered down the driveway, one section had seen a lot of growth, and apparently, a plant decided it wanted to take advantage of the marker post.

I almost left it, but I need to cut this section lower, and I know the stem will regrow.

However, it’s neat. It’s a beautiful side of nature, adapting and taking advantage of what is available. It was a neat thing for me to see today and appreciate the amazing things in our world.

Today’s tip is to give a complement today to someone outside your family.

I don’t complement people enough. I should do it more, and this is a good reminder for me to stop and think about what things can I say to people more often. I am getting better with my wife, so that’s something.

When I saw this, I was on holiday, and I decided to start there. I was with two other couples, and I made it a point to comment when someone had a nice output, or they’d tanned more, or something else. The idea was to focus on enjoying someone else’s positives, which helped me feel more positive.
