  • SQL Saturday Boston 2024 Plans

I was accepted to speak at SQL Saturday Boston 2024, which is taking place on October 5, 2024. One month away. This is a fun event that takes place in Burlington, MA, just north of Boston. I’ve been there twice now and I’m honored and excited to go back.

There is also a pre-con. Bob Ward is teaching an all day session on Friday, October 4th that is a Cloud Workshop for the SQL Professional. Check out the description and register today.

Definitely come on Saturday. I have a new session that I’m working on to help you balance life and career, but there will be a bunch of other great talks. Each year I go there, I find a few interesting things to see and this year is no different. Check out the schedule and I’m sure you’ll agree.

So click on over to https://sqlsaturday.com/boston and register for this SQL Saturday and I’ll see you next month.

  • Back to Syracuse for SQL Saturday

Syracuse is having their first SQL Saturday on Sept 7, 2024. I’ll be there and hope to see you there as well. If you’re anywhere close, come on over and join us for a free day or learning about how to better work with data.

I’ll be doing a professional development talk on Branding Yourself for a Dream Job. You can also check out the rest of the schedule.

I never thought I’d go back to Syracuse when I left in 1987. I spent a couple of years at Syracuse University and learned a lot, but it was far to cold and snowy (and expensive) for me.

Then my daughter decided to attend SUNY Potsdam and I’ve made quite a few trips through Syracuse as the closest major airport for travel to see her. I even managed to steal an hour on a trip and drive around the campus.

I don’t know I’ll get to do much this trip, but I do hope to at least go get a slice of pizza at an old haunt.

  • SQL Saturday Denver 2024 Resources

Here are the resources from my talks today.

Best Practices for Seamless Database Deployments

    Architecting Zero Downtime Deployments

Some good questions today, which I’ll write a few posts on:

    • What are feature flags
    • How do you handle adding a clustered index
    • How do you communicate with downstream groups on something like a rename

Probably a few more, but it’s been a long day and I’m tired.

  • Speaking at SQL Saturday Denver 2024

It’s just a couple of days away from SQL Saturday Denver 2024. This Saturday, come join me at the Lowry Convention Center in Aurora for some great talks. We are lucky in the Denver area that we have quite a few great speakers and talented data professionals, so check out the schedule.

    Then register and come.

Come learn about SQL Server, about PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Powershell, and more. I’m looking forward to sitting in a few sessions, and I have a few of my own. I’ll be delivering these talks:

    • Best Practices for Seamless Database Deployments
    • Architecting Zero Downtime Deployments

I hope to see you there.
