  • SQL in the City Back in London

    It’s just a couple weeks until the SQL in the City Summit comes back to London. This is our second Summit this year in London, and I’m honored to attend. This time we will be at the Prospero House, on Borough High Street in SE1 1GA.

    This time I get to run two keynotes, a first for me. I’ll open the day with the current state of Database DevOps and close things down with The Future of DevOps before a short happy hour. I’ll also be in the open space if you want to have a more private discussion.

    There are lots of great talks about different topics, including many of our lead developers. I’m excited as we have had, and will have, a few more products to show this time, so I’m excited.

  • A #DevOps Discussion on Thursday with Abel Wang

    I’m hosting a webinar later this week with  Abel Wang, one of the talented members of the League of Extraordinary Cloud DevOps Advocates at Microsoft. This Thursday, October 10, 2019, at 3pm UTC we’ll be discussing DevOps, and how this can both transform your organization as well as improve your career.

    Microsoft has had an amazing transformation in the last few years, and I was fascinated by a few items recently when I watched Damian Brady (another League member) talk about the changes inside the company. I’m really looking forward to hearing what Abel has to say with all of his work with customers looking to build better software.

  • The Future of Database Development at SQL Saturday #870–Memphis

    I’m off to Memphis today for SQL Saturday #870. I’m excited as I’ve never been to Memphis and hope to wander around and see something while I’m there. I know Tennessee has a great #sqlfamily, so I’m looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones.

  • Pre-Con in Denver

    As prep for our pre-con at the PASS Summit, Kendra and I are presenting a pre-con at the Denver SQL Saturday#908, on Friday, October 11, 2019. We’ll be talking about How to Architect Successful Database Changes: Source Control and Release Patterns for Performance and Availability.

    This is a look at development patterns that we’ve found to help handle more complex changes, both with state and migration patterns.

    The pre-con is $150, which is a bargain compared to the cost at large conferences. If you want to discuss development patterns that keep your database up and usable, come join us.
