  • Keynoting at SQL Saturday #831–Christchurch

    After our SQL in the City Summit in Brisbane last week, Hamish Watson () asked me if I’d do a short version of my keynote talk at the upcoming SQL Saturday in Christchurch this week. I was happy to do so and I’m excited to get the chance to welcome you to the South Island 2019 event.

  • Strategies for Compliant Development Down Under

    I’m doing a tour of Australia and New Zealand with our SQL in the City crew. We’re going to be in Brisbane, Christchurch, and Melbourne on three consecutive weeks.

    New Zealand is thinking of passing more laws, so the ideas will be applicable there, but really, these are just good ideas. While we have solutions from Redgate, and I’d love you to use our tools, I also want more compliant development taking place everywhere.

    I’ve heard wonderful things about Melbourne as a vibrant, high tech city, and I know that privacy and security are important topics to people there.   • Keynotes in Australia and New Zealand

    I get to do the SQL in the City Summit keynotes in Australia and New Zealand. I’m excited, following the footsteps of Kendra Little and Donovan Brown, who have done them in the US.

    The talk is on the State of Database DevOps in 2019. It’s likely some things many of you think about, but I’m hoping to inspire you to start adopting better development practices, give you reasons it’s a good idea, and providing some information that might help you get support from your management.

    It’s going to be an exciting tour, and some long days. I’ve got four sessions at each Summit, as well as a session or two the next day at SQL Saturday in each city. Join me for a packed weekend of learning in one of our locations.

  • SQL in the City in Melbourne on June 14

    As a part of our down under tour, SQL in the City comes to Melbourne on June 14. It’s a day before SQL Saturday #865 – Melbourne. If you’re anywhere close, and I know there’s not a lot of cities close by, but come take two days and get lots of Database DevOps and SQL Server training for a very low cost. I’m hoping for a good turnout and the chance to come back again next year.

    Register today for a full day of training, including a catered lunch, and listen to talks about DevOps and Redgate products on Friday, then come back to SQL Saturday 24 hours later.

    I’m excited for the event. We completed our London Summit a few weeks ago and it went very well. I’m taking over the keynote from Kendra and also doing a Monitoring session as well as covering privacy and the panel.
