  • Pre-Con in Denver

    As prep for our pre-con at the PASS Summit, Kendra and I are presenting a pre-con at the Denver SQL Saturday#908, on Friday, October 11, 2019. We’ll be talking about How to Architect Successful Database Changes: Source Control and Release Patterns for Performance and Availability.

    This is a look at development patterns that we’ve found to help handle more complex changes, both with state and migration patterns.

  • Come See the Future of Database DevOps at SQL Sat Austin

    I’ll be coming to SQL Saturday #890 – Austin in just over a week. Austin is a great technology town, and this should be one of the larger SQL Saturday events. I know traffic is tough, but the event is at St Edwards University, which isn’t downtown, so hopefully some of you can come.

    I’ve got two talks, and I’m excited about both. I’m doing a DevOps talk about the overview of how to incorporate the database into a DevOps flow. This has been a popular talk across the last few years, and I’ve given it at the Summit a couple of times.

    The other talk is one I’m more excited. The Future of Database Development with Containers is a look at how we might use SQL Server in software development in the future. It’s something Microsoft has shown some ideas with, but I’ve got some cool Redgate technology to show off as well, with a database-as-a-service from the Foundry.

    If you want more training, there is a great pre-con on Friday as well. You can learn Data Science with Chris Hyde and add to your skillset. It’s good preparation if your company wants to perform more complex data analysis.

  • Just a Week to SQL Sat Pensacola

    One of my favorite events, in a wonderful place to spend the weekend. I’ve been to Pensacola a few times (3?), including a couple times with my daughter. It’s always a fun weekend with Karla, Rodney, Ed, and the other organizers that make it a fun event. Even deep sea fishing Sunday if that’s your thing.

    This year I’m heading back after missing a few events. I’m lucky to go and I’m looking forward to delivering a new presentation. This one is one the future of Database Development with Containers, showing a vision of how things are changing. Microsoft has shown some similar items, but I’ve got some cool technology to show off from the Redgate Research Division, the Foundry.

  • Keynoting at SQL Saturday #831–Christchurch

    After our SQL in the City Summit in Brisbane last week, Hamish Watson () asked me if I’d do a short version of my keynote talk at the upcoming SQL Saturday in Christchurch this week. I was happy to do so and I’m excited to get the chance to welcome you to the South Island 2019 event.
