  • Off to #SQLSat Pittsburgh

    I’ve never been to Pittsburgh. Actually, in all of my speaking and traveling, I don’t think I’ve even flown through the airport. I’ve been wanting to rectify this, and quite a few friends, like Bill and Konstantine, have been asking me to come for years. The timing hasn’t worked out with other events in the past, but this year I kept the weekend free and was accepted to speak.

    If you’re in the area on Saturday, register and come to SQL Saturday #770. It’s at the Pittsburgh Technical College and there’s a great schedule of speakers and sessions to see.  The event is free, though there is a lunch charge.

    I’ll be delivering my popular branding session along with a Database DevOps talk. Hope to see you there.

  • Bringing DevOps to #SQLSat Oslo

    As my kids get older and I spend less time with them, I look forward to visiting new countries. While I’ve been to Norway and Oslo before, I wasn’t able to make the SQL Saturday last year. I am lucky that they accepted my submission and I’m heading  SQL Saturday #746 – Oslo in a week.

    There’s a great schedule with some amazing sessions to watch. I’m on it with my Bringing DevOps to the Database talk, showing you the process and idea behind adding your database development to an application DevOps pipeline.

    I’m also looking to try and get to Oslo early Friday and spend a little time hiking somewhere and enjoying the beautiful space. It’s on my list to travel up the West side of the country some day, and even get to Svalbard, but that will have to wait for a less busy time when my wife can join me.

    If you’re near Oslo, come to an amazing event and enjoy a little time in a little city by the sea.

  • Working Hard in Baton Rouge

    I’m heading back to Baton Rouge for SQL Saturday #749 this August. This is one of the largest SQL Saturdays in the US, and one I really enjoy. I’ve been there 5 or 6 times, and I was honored to be selected again.

    But they’re working me. The schedule is out. I’m doing three sessions, the first three of the day. You can some see me talk about:

    If you’re in the area, this is a great way to get some training on SQL Server and .NET. There are lots of really good sessions from some experts, including the Power BI experts, Adam Saxton and Patrick LeBlanc.

  • Back to #SQLSat Louisville

    Next week is SQL Saturday #729 – Lousiville and I’m making the trip. This will be my third or fourth trip there, and I’m looking forward to the trip. It’s a nice town, I can visit some family, and lots of #sqlfamily friends will be there.

    This is the 10th event, which is very exciting. Lots of props to John Morehouse, Chris Yates, Mala Mahadevan, and everyone setting the event up. Amazing to see another city get to their tenth event.

    The schedule is up, and there are some great sessions. I’m doing my encryption and security session, but I wonder if I’ll have many people coming. I’m up against Randy Knight’s deadlock session, William Wolf’s T-SQL session and a Linux talk from Dave Walden plus others.

    In fact, lots of tough choices. Each time slot has at least 2 or 3 sessions I’d like to see, and I’ve got tough choices to make.
