Republish: Not Useless Features

I’m in San Francisco as part of the Database DevOps Rocks Tour. I’ve had fun taking pictures for the events and managed to make 4 of the previous events. This is my 5th and the 6th for me is Seattle in a couple weeks.

One of my favorite shots

I’m lightly pointing at San Fran, but I think I was motioning a car to go around.

In any case, you get Not Useless Features as a republish.

  1. Be careful while out there. San Fran isn’t what she used to be.

Ha, actually in Austin. Got moved, but I hear this constantly about various cities where people read the media reporting. It’s never like it’s portrayed. I’ve almost never felt there were the same issues that are shown online/TV

    • I’m not basing on media reports but what a co-worker said who was recently out there for some event related to our industry. Like most places it all depends on where you go but in San Fran it’s place that weren’t a big deal a few years back.

I hear Austin is great, never been there.

I always wonder about that. I have had people say the same thing to me. They visited and it was horrible. I go a week or month later and it’s fine.

Can be easy to see what you want in a place for sure. I’ve had more than a few people tell me how horrible Seattle was at various times, especially during the 99%/1% stuff. Didn’t feel that way and I was there during those times.

  2. Lot of items in Adams list that I had just forgotten about, a number of which like Adam I tried experimenting with but didn’t have positive results so I moved on. For all it’s misses I’m glad that teh SQL Team tries new/different things for who knows when they may stumble across that one new feature that turns out to be a game changer?
