It’s a great title, and it’s one many people have worried about in their careers. I know I have, and I decided to re-run IT Staffer Fired today. Leave me your thoughts as you re-read this in today’s world.
It’s a vacation day for me. It’s actually my June-teenth holiday day. I had to work that day and do some recordings, so I flexed it to Jul 20. I was at Day of Data Baton Rouge over the weekend, and my wife came with me. We decided to take a few days in New Orleans and get away from the Colorado heat. It’s still hot in NO, but we can relax, hang out by a pool or in the AC.

I look at this way, if whatever an employee does is something that if one of the executives did it they would not be fired for it then neither should any other employee who does the same. There has to be a company wide standard on this and I can speak from multiple decades of working in IT that often it is the higher ups who we find have the most <you-name-it-ware> on their systems off all the employees. There’s been at least 1 place I worked at where we put restrictions on the execs systems w/o them knowing it just so as to protect the company from these guys and their willingness to go placers they should (online) and click on things they should know better than clicking on.

agreed. If execs aren’t fired, staffers shouldn’t be. By the same token, the reverse applies.
