Editorial Republish: Horrible Bosses

Maybe I’m actually watching this movie as you read this. After 48 hours in London, I’m heading back to Colorado today.

Actually a little more. I landed at 940a Monday and left at 11:35am today, a whirlwind trip to this amazing city. Not the first time I’ve done it, and likely not the last.

You get to re-read Horrible Bosses as I try to figure out how to get back on a different time zone.

  1. Some good advice to in that post. Being that it is from 2018 and that’s 7 years ago I assume your kids are likely young adults by now, have they had to deal with a horrible boss yet? After 35 years of working myself I’ve definitely seen good, bad and ho-hum bosses. What’s interesting is the bad bosses aren’t always the ones who act bad in the way most people would envision bad. One boss I had at one point was bad because they didn’t have what is really needed to manage people so the employees would walk all over the boss. I’ve had to be the boss, I was the manager of a music store for 8 years back when people went to a physical location and purchased a physical object with music on it and I never ever want to manage people again. I prefer being the fix it guy; let others manage people.

Relatively few bad bosses for the kids, though a few in there. I’ve tended to just listen and give less advice to the kids, especially when they’re upset. A few times we’ve just said maybe move on, but sometimes, suck it up in the short term.

      1. No idea why that was posted twice buty I dopn;t see a delte option.
      2. I think it’s hard today to go thru life w/o facing at least 1 bad boss at some point especially if when young and still in school you’re working a part time job which is typically in retail or food.
