  • Off to #SQLSat Pittsburgh

I’ve never been to Pittsburgh. Actually, in all of my speaking and traveling, I don’t think I’ve even flown through the airport. I’ve been wanting to rectify this, and quite a few friends, like Bill and Konstantine, have been asking me to come for years. The timing hasn’t worked out with other events in the past, but this year I kept the weekend free and was accepted to speak.

If you’re in the area on Saturday, register and come to SQL Saturday #770. It’s at the Pittsburgh Technical College and there’s a great schedule of speakers and sessions to see.  The event is free, though there is a lunch charge.

I’ll be delivering my popular branding session along with a Database DevOps talk. Hope to see you there.

  • SQL in the City Summits–Coming to New York, London, and Chicago

I love New York. Every time I get to travel to the city, I get excited and look forward to the trip. I was able to spend a night in Brooklyn earlier this year, touring a college with my daughter. Now I’m very lucky to get a second trip this year, with Redgate for a SQL in the City Summit.

We have 3 live Summit events coming in October to a few cities: New York, London, and Chicago. These are in person events where we have presentations scheduled for customers and potential customers. These are thought provoking talks and interactive workshops, aimed a C-level and senior staff. If you’re got someone in your organization that might be interested, pass this link along: https://www.red-gate.com/hub/events/redgate-events/sqlinthecity-summit/

We have Redgate speakers and expert guests, including Bob Ward of Microsoft. If you have the chance to go, contact your account rep today and get a code to register. These are paid events, though a limited number of free tickets are available.

    The schedule is:

This will be a busy month of travel for me, with the PASS Summit coming the week after Chicago. It should be an inspirational and exciting set of events, and I hope to see some of your at one of these Summits.

  • Watch SQL in the City Streamed September 2018

I’m over in the UK and we have SQL in the City Streamed tomorrow. This is our September edition, and Grant, Kathi, and myself are prepping today.

We also have a special guest this time, Rob Richardson. Rob is a fantastic software developer and fellow MVP. I’m looking forward to seeing his new talk on the Microsoft stack and automated deployments.

Check out the registration pages and schedule as we’ve got a variety of talks. This time we have a bit of Redgate focus, but many of these talks are more generic, useful technical talks that you will find informative.

Register, block out your calendar, and join us tomorrow, Sept 5, for the next SQL in the City Streamed.

  • Bringing DevOps to #SQLSat Oslo

    2018-08-16 12_50_39-SQLSaturday #746 - Oslo 2018 _ Event Home

As my kids get older and I spend less time with them, I look forward to visiting new countries. While I’ve been to Norway and Oslo before, I wasn’t able to make the SQL Saturday last year. I am lucky that they accepted my submission and I’m heading  SQL Saturday #746 – Oslo in a week.

There’s a great schedule with some amazing sessions to watch. I’m on it with my Bringing DevOps to the Database talk, showing you the process and idea behind adding your database development to an application DevOps pipeline.

I’m also looking to try and get to Oslo early Friday and spend a little time hiking somewhere and enjoying the beautiful space. It’s on my list to travel up the West side of the country some day, and even get to Svalbard, but that will have to wait for a less busy time when my wife can join me.

If you’re near Oslo, come to an amazing event and enjoy a little time in a little city by the sea.
