It was neat to stumble on this in the book, a piece by me, just a few years after Redgate acquired SQL Server Central. I’ll let the words speak for themselves.
I have a copy of the Book of Redgate from 2010. This was a book we produced internally about the company after 10 years in existence. At that time, I’d been there for about 3 years, and it was interesting to learn a some things about the company. This series of posts looks back at the Book of Redgate 15 years later.

Funny how stuff starts so rough, but ends up being something special. Like they say about most things the most important ingredient is love. (Which is rarely not corrupted completely by money!) Proud to have even some affiliation with this site through the years.

Steve – Hard to believe its been as long as it has, from the first year of SQL Server Central. Do you remember the days of the print periodicals? I forget the name but I use to get SQL Newsletters from some publisher (I think it was ZiffDavis) every 2 months. I saved those things and I bet there somewhere in my office even as of now.

We produced a real glossy magazine for PASS. I’m guessing the 2003-2004 maybe 2005 timeframe

Steve – After posting I searched some using the Google AI and the periodicals I used to get were from Pinnacle Publishing. They had several of these 8-12 page journal they’d mail out every 2 months (maybe every quarter) and I had the one for SQL and the one for Access/Office/VBA Dev. I fondly remember how useful those things were. IK may still have them boxed away somewhere. I know I kept them for a long time.
